22 weeks pregnant

I know this has taken longer than it should, but I'm committed to keeping this blog updated. Since Scott and I live so far away from the rest of our family, we want to keep you updated with pictures and posts of how the pregnancy is going.

As most of you know, we found out a couple weeks ago that our baby is a girl! Almost everyone predicted a boy (even our nurse practitioner), but she fooled us all. We're thrilled. If she's anything like our perfect goddaughter, Abby, then she'll be so much fun.

The pregnancy has been going pretty well so far. The first trimester was really difficult. I was sick every day and struggled with insomnia. But as soon as I entered my second trimester, I started to feel better and got my energy back. My only problem now is I feel a bit uncomfortable when I sleep (I often wake up with back pain or leg cramps) and I'm gaining weight like it's my job. I was shocked at my last appointment to learn I'd put on 10 pounds in one month. Yikes.

At our last appointment, we found out that the genetic tests we took the month before all came out negative. Thank God, because we were nervous about the high false positive rate. And the ultrasound measurements and pictures looked perfect. The ultrasound technician kept telling us how active she was. She was kicking, turning and flipping over the whole time. I've just really started to notice her moving around and kicking, especially at night when I'm settled down. During the last week, she's woken me up a few times during the night just to remind me she's there.

And, we got a due date. It was moved up a bit from our first ultrasound. She's due on June 12.

My Mom is coming to visit this Thursday. I can't wait to see her. She's going to be very surprised how different I look compared to the last time she saw me. There is now no doubt in anyone's mind that I am indeed pregnant.

Enjoy the ultrasound photos below.
