So Friday was an eventful night. It started with me coming home from work a little early. I beat Scott home and the dogs, as usual, were jumping around begging to go out. Now usually I put Maggie's collar on and get her on the leash. But, this time I decided it would be real quick and she didn't need her leash--BAD IDEA. As soon as we got up to the little park where they do their business, I saw a Dad and a baby girl walking. Before I could even react, Maggie took off. The Dad and baby looked terrified, and I took off like I was a sprinter trying out for the Olympics. At that exact moment, Scott pulled in and saw me take off. He jumped out of his car and told me to go inside the house, but by that time it was too late. I was in agony. I literally couldn't walk. It took us about 20 minutes to walk 20 feet from the park back to the house. I was in denial. I couldn't believe that this was happening.
When I was lying dying with my feet up, I felt fine. But, as soon as I had to get up, I couldn't walk. And, considering I have to use the bathroom every 20 minutes, I knew I had a problem. Scott called the doctor, who of course was gone for the day, so we were connected to a nurse hotline. I explained all of my symptoms, convinced that I had just pulled a muscle and didn't need to go to the hospital, but the nurse said he had to tell me to get checked out by a doctor at triage. This was terrible. I knew I wasn't in labor, but also knew that I needed to get the baby checked.
Scott and I weren't prepared for this. We weren't supposed to be going to the hospital for another 2 weeks. We arrived to triage on a VERY busy night. I definietly hope that baby regan does not come on a Friday night because the hospital was packed. We were put in a room next to a woman who was being told she needed an emergency c-section so needless to say my "emergency" had to wait. They hooked me up to the fetal monitor. The baby's heart rate was fine and I wasn't having contractions. But, just in case, the nurse needed to do an internal exam. I JUST had this done the day before and was horrified that I had to go through this again. I wasn't dialited and was sent home with some Vicodin and orders to take it easy and staff off my feet.
Needless to say, I'm not allowed to take the dogs out again for a while. And, I swear Maggie knows what she did because she won't leave my side. I still have some pain and I'm definietly not walking very gracefully, but I feel much better. Hopefully we still have some time before we end up at the hospital again. We need it!
