Update from the battlefield

Here we are at day 12. As you can see, we still have the cutest baby ever, but Mom and Dad haven't slept more than 3 hours a night since this started. Don't let all the pictures fool you - she doesn't sleep this much. We're getting the hang of things, but we're already dealing with what appears to be colic. I just bought some herbal stuff that appears to be working, so maybe we just might get some sleep this week.

My family came out for a week the day after Bailey was born. They were just amazing with helping us around the house, cooking every single meal, and giving us a break once in a while for a quick nap.

The Barrett family is here as well - they were actually able to fly into San Diego the same day Bailey was delivered. When Kristin's precious "bag of waters" broke at 7am Thursday morning , Kim Barrett was online getting a flight. They arrived at around 11PM wearing the same clothes they had worn to work that day - 33oo miles away. They've been so helpful and supportive. We're both very lucky to have such a great family. And thanks to Andrea, you were all able to see the pictures when I just didn't have the energy to do it.

I go back to work full-time on Thursday, when little Bailey turns two weeks old. I miss her already. It's going to be pretty tough on all of us, but luckily I live about a mile from my office. At this point, I have no idea how I am going to stay awake at the wheel if we don't get some sleep soon.

I'll continue to post pictures, but I can't promise any witty comments or quirky little stories until this craziness subsides.

Hi Scott, Thanks for the update, great pictures. I know it seems exhausting now but once you get into a routine it will seem so much easier. As for getting rest the only thing I can tell you is tell Kristin whenever the baby sleeps she should nap. When you are both home on weekends take turns taking naps so you don't exhausted. Mark had colic for months, I went through hell until they realized he was allergic to formula, when I changed to soy formula he was sleeping, happier and a different baby. Good luck and try to get some rest or drink lots of coffee to stay awake. Love you all so much, give Bailey a great big kiss from all of us.
Love, Auntie Linda
