Cutest flat-headed baby ever

Hey everyone! Sorry it's been so long since my last update. I'd love to post more if I could find the time. You see my new job's a hassle and the kid's got the flu, but it's been sure nice writing for you, blog. It's been sure nice writing for you.

Actually, Bailey doesn't have the flu. She has a cold, a flat head, and she's in the 97th percentile in height. But no flu. I just really wanted to cram a Cats in the Cradle quote into this post...so there ya go.

Bailey had her four month Doctor's appointment yesterday, where she went through another series of shots. I wasn't able to be there because I had to work, but thankfully my wonderful mother-in-law was able to make the trip with Kristin. It's so hard to see little Bailey cry when she is in pain, like that time we tried to make Bailey's Irish Stew in the crockpot (see left).

As you can kind of see in the photo on the right, the back of Bailey's head isn't as round as we'd like it to be. It's kind of covered-up by her beautiful hair, but right now her head is kind of like a pretty little cantelope that was dropped in the floor in the supermarket. The doctor remarked that her "flat head syndome" would require us to see a neurologist in Boston. That should be a wicked fun time. There is a slight chance our cutest baby ever may have to be the cutest baby ever who has to wear a helmet for 23 hours a day. They only do this in severe cases, so we're hoping for the best. Apparantly "flat head syndrome" has risen dramatically since "they" decided all babies should sleep on their back to avoid SIDS. So we gave our baby a flat head by doing the right thing. Figures. She'll be gorgeous no matter what.

So we move into our new place on November 1st. This will be great for my commute and great for us to feel "settled-in". But we're really going to miss all the help we get from my Mom and Dad (Tom and Saint Catherine Regan). We've been eating like kings and we've got two amazing live-in helpers ready to lend a hand whenever we're ready to jump out a window (which is quite often for Kristin given her very limited interaction with human beings that can talk). It's been so awesome - I just don't know what it will be like without my Mom feeding her at 10PM and my Dad making-up crazy songs to keep her entertained every day after work. Oh well, maybe we'll just plop her down in front of the TV and let the good people at Sesame Street raise her. They seem to know what they're doing.

Poor Bailey with a flat head, she is still the cutest baby I know!!! I am so happy that Mom could be there for the shots. When I went it broke my heart b/c I had never really seen her cry like that before. I hope you survive the new house with out Tom and Cathy, but Sesame Street worked for me...I miss you guys.

Remember Juan and his bowlegs. Now he's got the cutest 14 year old boy legs ever. Don't worry. She's absolutely beautiful and fortunately she DOES have that great head of hair. Think about what you'd do if she was bald and had a flat head. And if she does need to wear a helmet, maybe she can borrow Tom Brady's since he's not using his right now.

Bailey is fine don't worry if I slept on my back my head would be flat too. Wow I couldn't believe she was in the 97th percentile looks like she'll be lean and beautiful just like her Mom. Thanks for writing again I just love reading your updates and the pictures are adorable. Looking forward to more updates, miss you all and love you so much. Hope to see you soon.

I am so sorry about the flat head thing. I'll pray that she will be okay. The pictures are so cute. What will the helmet do to correct the problem?

I love you all!

I agree, Andrea. I love the way she's holding the edge of the pot. It's a simple thing that we take for granted, but a huge accomplishment for her. Little munchkin.

My favorite part is the drool on her chin! I miss her so much even her spittle. Can't wait to see EVERYONE in less than a month. What is Bailey being for Hallween?

I have to warn you what you have to look forward to... I'm sitting up waiting for my son to come home from Haunted Trails. It's 11:15 p.m. and I'm tired but can I go to sleep with him not here? NO! The sleep thing NEVER gets easier... Good thing we love them so much...
