Bailey's First Weird American Holiday

Last Friday was Bailey's first Halloween. Unfortunately, Miss Bailey was much to young to understand the hilarity behind her costumes. And since Kristin and I are a little too old/boring/married/sedentary to really care about Halloween anymore, the whole holiday lasted about 15 minutes. Getting dressed up for Halloween is about as fun as getting dressed up for a wedding with a cash bar - I am way too cool for that kind of scene (not really, but that's what I say to make myself feel better about the fact that we weren't invited to any parties this year). The last time I dressed up for Halloween was about 5 years ago when Kristin and I were first dating. I went as a One Night Stand. I'd post pictures, but this is a family blog and I don't need my parents thinking I'm anything less than the perfect little angel they think I am.

So as you can see, Bailey had multiple wardrobe changes this year. By day, she donned her pumpkin onesie with matching cap. And by night, she terrorized the neighborhood with her ultra scarey bunny costume. Nothing says Halloween like a baby in a rabbit outfit. Remember that scene in A Christmas Story where Ralphie has to wear the bunny suit sent to him by Aunt Clara? That's the look Bailey gave us as we zipped her up in that enourmous pink and white pile of fabric. She looked like a deranged Easter Bunny, a pink nightmare! But of course she was the cutest deranged Easter Bunny ever.

After Friday's Halloween hubub subsided, Kristin and I really went crazy and let our hair down for the weekend. I mean, we really let loose and had ourselves a party. Saturday was a doozy. We went furniture shopping for about 5 hours and then split a tuna fish sub for dinner (with chips!). We must have stayed up until at least 11 PM! Then on Sunday, we went furniture shopping for another 2-3 hours and had some crappy pizza for lunch. I was even wild enough to throw back a couple of beers! Then Kristin's mom came over for dinner and we watched eebee with Bailey for 2 hours straight. We are two wild and crazy guys!

Taking pictures of Bailey may be my favorite new thing to do. The only problem is that it's so hard to get a shot of her smiling because the minute I pull out my camera she turns into Cindy Brady on a TV Quiz Show. "Baton Rouge, Cindy! Baton Rouge!" Remember that Brady Bunch episode? For those of you who missed that episode, Cindy was invited to be a contestant on a TV Quiz Show and quickly developed a very cocky attitude. She was so self-absorbed that she even had the nerve to ask Alice for "just a small side salad" for dinner. Can you believe it? Anyway, when the show finally went on the air, Cindy stared at the red light on the camera and froze up. This is exactly what Bailey does when I try to take a picture of her. She stares at the red light and just freezes. So I have to get creative with my angles to get anything worth keeping. The pictures of her smiling on the left is the result of about 150 pictures I took - and it's blurry!

All joking aside, we really did have a good weekend. As each day passes by, we learn more and more about our little fussbucket. Her new eebee DVD finally arrived in the mail today - we're really looking forward to a new set of songs to have stuck in our heads all day. It was getting rough for a while there - we were watching all Thomas the Train videos. And although I have all the respect in the world for our friends in the UK, that Thomas the Train is a very very odd little British cartoon.

That's all for now. Oh, I ordered a snazzy new TV for our snazzy new house. So as far as I'm concerned we're all set to move. Kristin keeps blabbing about things like dishes, furniture and rugs, but as far as I'm concerned, as long as we have working cable TV and internet, we can live without anything else. Have a good week everyone! Wish us luck - Bailey's appointment with the flathead doctor is Thursday!

Bailey is just like her Aunty I had two costume changes on Halloween as well. I started the day as a peacock and ended the day performing a ghostbusters routine for the school, jump suit and backpack vacuum and all. Bailey's bunny costume is adorable, and even if she didn't wear it long the pictures are sooooo cute. Good luck at the flathead doctor.

Be 'Leary' if the flathead doctor finds such symptoms as:
Joo Joo eyeballs
Hair down to her knee (Almost!)
Toe jam foot (ball)
monkey finger
walrus grumble ( I think I've already heard it)
and last but not least- "Feet down below her knees!!!!

Can't we all just come together?

She's still PERFECT

Love, Papa

How did Bailey make out at the doctor regarding her flat head? I've been thinking of her and praying for her.
